About Me!

I'm Marissa!

As a former fashion stylist, FIT grad and 90s kid, I love all things fashion and pop culture. When I was a stylist in the early to mid-2000s, you might find me on a photo shoot with the latest boy band, styling a commercial for NOGGIN or on a local morning show giving away fashion bargain advice. I'm also a serial entrepreneur and have always had a small business.

My first was a handmade line of jewelry, which I started in 2003. Websites were new and e-commerce was barely a thing. Etsy didn't exist. Back then, I would look up magazine editors and mail them packets of my jewelry. I managed to get my jewelry in numerous fashion magazines like Seventeen, CosmoGirl, Girl's Life and Teen Vogue. The ultimate was when the wardrobe stylist to the Black Eyed Peas commissioned me to design jewelry for Fergie. She ended up wearing a pair of my earrings in a video. I sold jewelry for a few years by utilizing PayPal on my website and I loved it but handmaking jewelry all on my own was time consuming and my styling career started taking off.

Through the years I had other small businesses and always managed to get great press for all of them! Currently, I design a line of fashion-centric pop culture inspired accessories and home design. Check out my current press.

I wanted to share my knowledge and everything I've learned about DIY publicity to show other small business owners they can achieve it too!
